The Checkpoint Arcadebar is a very cozy place, with a super nice appearance. It is a place designed to have fun, with board games that can be rented to spend the afternoon, with fun cocktails, frozen milkshakes, pancakes, and arcade machines.

For me, the best and that attracts a broader type of public, it is pet friendly and they give treats and water to the furry ones who visit them.

The tone of the bar is super friendly, and this is reflected in all its decoration, the presentation of the dishes they offer, including the cocktails, all cheerful and full of colour.

The same happens with the workers, Checkpoint has known how to bring people very similar to this style of place, board game players, people with a geek touch and with a passion for retro and video games, who like to be in this type of environments.

All this decorative work, care and pampering towards the final product and the good treatment towards the client is curated by the owners, Rubén and Ana, who throughout this collaboration have become friends of the family :)

Seeing the design of the place, in pastel tones and an atmosphere between the 60's and 80's, we knew that the style of the page had to be consistent with this friendly, pleasant, soft and welcoming vibe.

Rubén and Ana gave us freedom to do this web design, although they first stressed that the website had to reflect the same atmosphere as the local, nothing dark or too modern, but not 100% retro either.

Web design and development

We studied the key elements that we could use as graphic resources for web design and development. Basically, its logo, and all the careful setting that the owners had worked on since the comprehensive reform of their premises.

Color palette

First of all, we use the colors of the logo, at least the 3 main ones. In addition to these tones, we add some grays for fonts and different opacities to make some banners, which are seen on the web.

Typography

We chose Montserrat because it is a versatile, recognizable font with rounded characters, pleasant to look at, with a friendly but modern touch. It is a known typeface and very easy to read, while giving a youthful appearance.

Banners

Out of necessity within the UX design, we made banners to make the separation within the letter. We believe that the user appreciates seeing what he is looking for in a more organized way, not just separating drinks and food, since the Checkpoint Arcadebar offer is much more focused on drinks than on food.

The design of the UX part is not very elaborate since we are based on the 2020 covered need of all businesses: an online menu.

The only innovation for the Arcadebar is to find a complete website with the prices that you can see from the comfort of your home in a desktop version. In reality, from the Home in the mobile version you can see a direct button to this section of banners, and from there we see a very simple system type list of each section.
